A New California Handgun Law Puts Ammo on Lockdown

Among the numerous bills signed into law was one restricting the sale of handgun ammunition in California. Here are some quick facts about the new legislation:
The law will require licensed dealers to keep ammunition behind the counter.
Gun dealers can only sell less 50 rounds per month to a particular buyer.
Gun dealers must record information about the ammunition sale including: date, buyer's birth date, name, address, driver's license, thumbprint, signature; amount, brand, and type of ammunition sold; salesperson it was sold by.
Internet and mail-order suppliers are banned from selling ammunition directly to California state citizens
It will be illegal for anyone subject to gang injunction to purchase handgun ammunition.
The law will take effect in 2011
Will the restrictions save lives?
The legislation was introduced to track criminals who use handguns to commit crimes. Similar pilot programs instituted in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Sacramento has reportedly helped to keep bullets away from children as well as from dangerous criminals and has led to arrest of felons and gang members.
According to Daily News Los Angeles, Sacramento authorities reported that in the year since similar local ordinance was enacted, nearly 200 who were not legally entitled to own or possess firearms or ammunition were apprehended by authorities.
How will it affect state gun dealers?
Gun dealers in California have mixed reviews about the new law. Many feel that it will just force ammunition sales out-of-state, to places like Oregon a state which has fewer restrictions and less paperwork. However, on balance, the state law provision that bans online sales may go to benefit state dealers.

My Comment:
Don't kid yourselves, Liberals want to take your guns away or prevent them from operating. Lets face it a gun without ammo is useless unless you're gonna to use it like a rock and throw it at the criminal intruder.
Defend your rights in America and elsewhere, anyone who wants to ban or inhibit gun ownership by private law abiding citizens should be kicked out of office.
So go to the polls on election day, and vote their useless Liberal Socialist asses out.

About Submitting Pictures of Guns, Weapons, etc ...

This is Urgent and Important:
I need everyones cooperation of submitting pictures for posting.

Today I received two email complaints about the Chiappa Rhino Revolver Handgun posting of November 18, 2009 based on the fact one was apparently the property of another poster, I have immediately removed this one picture and some corresponding write-up, and replaced it with two pictures from the manufacturers website with write-up.

At the moment all gun pictures, videos, and video links are emailed to me for posting to this Blog, Daily Gun Pictures. I appreciate all the support I get and want everyone to continue their submittals, but be respective of others.

I do not have the time to run around the Internet looking for people who may own something you have submitted to me for posting. If the gun or weapon is from a firearms manufacturer, so state it. If the picture has an imprint (website address or name) leave it there, give the people credit for their work, but they may want it removed. If they request something that belongs to them I will remove it; only if I receive an email with said proof.
If this is your weapon or a friend or relatives weapon, then it is yours, and you have every right to have me post it. Most of the pictures I get are from private collectors.
I will not remove a picture that someone has copied from another post such as the firearm manufacturer, the U.S. Patent Office, etc. just because that person posted first.
It's my understanding, and I am not a lawyer, that only the GUN Manufacturer owns the rights to the pictures on their site (both past and present). I doubt they would object to any postings on The Daily Gun Blog since it's good advertising.
As for giving credit, I have repeatedly posted on my free blog site that most people don't want credit, for a variety of reasons, I am referring to those who email me pictures, etc. Those who have requested credit, and there are a few, I have given full credit to them. My posts reflect this.

Videos usually contain embedded names or website addresses so the credit is all ready there, i.e. YouTube, LiveLeak, etc.

It also should be noted that I get pictures, videos, and video links from all over the world.
I do not keep any emails I receive including those that I respond to.
In the name of commonsense one should believe just because something that appears elsewhere doesn't mean they didn't copy and paste it from say the manufacturer or distributors websites. I would have no way of knowing either way, where it came from.

The only way to protect anything in today's cyber age is never post it to the Internet. I was recently told that a picture posted online is copied numerous times within 24-hours of posting. I cannot verify this but it makes sense. In fact I received an email about six months ago from a person who submitted his own personal weapon for me to post that appeared elsewhere in a forum discussion board, he knew because he could read the serial number.

Again I want to emphasize I will be most happy to give anyone full credit for any submittal, just indicate that in your email and I will comply.

America Armed Up: Guns might be empty

NEW ORLEANS LA, USA – Bullet-makers are working around the clock, seven days a week, and still can't keep up with the nation's demand for ammunition.
Shooting ranges, gun dealers and bullet manufacturers say they have never seen such shortages. Bullets, especially for handguns, have been scarce for months because gun enthusiasts are stocking up on ammo, in part because they fear President Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass antigun legislation even though nothing specific has been proposed and the president last month signed a law allowing people to carry loaded guns in national parks.
Gun sales spiked when it became clear Obama would be elected a year ago and the Democrats would control both houses of congress. The FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System reported that 6.1 million background checks for gun sales were issued from January to May 2009, an increase of 25.6 percent from the same period the year before.
"That is going to cause an upswing in ammunition sales," said Larry Keane, senior vice president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a trade association representing about 5,000 members. "Without bullets a gun is just a paper weight."
The shortage for sportsmen is different than the scarcity of ammo for some police forces fueled by an increase in ammo use by the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"We are working overtime and still can't keep up with the demand," said a spokesman for North Carolina-based Remington Arms Company, which makes bullets for rifles, handguns and shotguns. "We've had to add a fourth shift and go 24-7. It's a phenomenon that I have not seen before in my 30 years in the business."
Americans usually buy about 7 billion rounds of ammunition a year, according to the National Rifle Association. In the past year, that figure has jumped to about 9 billion rounds.
Jason Gregory, who manages Gretna Gun Works just outside of New Orleans, has been building his personal supply of ammunition for months. His goal is to have at least 1,000 rounds for each of his 25 weapons.
I call it the Obama effect he said. It always happens when the Democrats get in office. It happened with Clinton and Obama is even stronger for gun control. Ammunition will be the first step, so I'm stocking up while I can.
So far, the new President nor Congress has not been markedly antigun. Obama has said he respects Second Amendment rights, but favors "common sense" on gun laws. Still, worries about what could happen persist.
Demand has been so heavy at some Walmarts, a limit was imposed on the amount of ammo customers can buy. The cutoff varies according to caliber and store location, but sometimes as little as one box (50 bullets) is allowed.
At Barnwood Arms in Ripon, Calif., said some of the shortages have leveled off, but 45-caliber rounds are still hard to find.

Nationwide, distributors are scrambling to fill orders from retailers.
We used to be able to order 50 or 60 cases and get them in three or four days easy, it was never an issue," said Vic Grechniw of Florida Ammo Traders, a distributor in Tampa, Florida. Now you are really lucky if you can get one case a month. It just isn't there because the demand is way up.
A case contains 500 or 1,000 bullets.
At Jefferson Gun Outlet and Range bear New Orleans, owner Mike Mayer is worried individuals are going to start buying by the case.
If someone wants to shoot on the weekend you have to worry about having the ammunition for them. And I know some people aren't buying to use it at the range, they're taking it home and hoarding it.
With demand, prices have also risen.
"Used to be gold, but now lead is the most expensive metal," said Donald Richards, 37, who was stocking up at the Jefferson store. "And it's worth every penny."
